Wow wow wow, an afternoon all to myself. I’ve got work to do, but I’ll do it tomorrow. I need a relax and chill day.

Sunday was a fabulous day, as I knew it would be. Kim arrived to pick me up around 10:30, and of course I wasn’t quite ready yet. I am a slowwww mover these days! We managed to get down to the Rose & Crown/Lilac Festival in good time, as there were still a few choice parking spots available. We got ourselves a table at the front near the stage, of course, and Kim set it up so there was an umbrella to shade me from the sun and heat. I had thought the Polyjesters were playing inside like last year, so I didn’t bring my sunglasses. Oops. Kim’s pair looked good on me, so she let me wear them, and went off and bought herself another pair to wear from the kiosk on the street. YES. Do I have great friends, or what?? Not to mention she brought me food and drinks all afternoon, and helped me get through the line-up and into the bathroom.

Michelle joined us as well, early on. Shawna arrived later because she is from Winnipeg. Haha actually, it was because she took transit down by herself and walked from the C-Train station, which is quite brave for an out-of-towner, and then she was looking for us in the wrong place. We finally got her to the right place, and then we could all hang out. With the tons of other people there, such as PolyFriends and PolyParents.

I would show you video, as I took tons, but for some reason my computer doesn’t recognize my camera and I can’t transfer all my files. I don’t know if it’s my USB port or the cord or what, but I will find out soon. This is a recent development that makes me very sad.

The PJ’s played 5 sets between noon and 5:00, and even threw in a few odd songs (for them to play) like Toto, Tragically Hip, Metallica and AC/DC. (I really want to show you footage!!) The rain started up just as they were finishing their last set, so thankfully it held off most of the day. We had a lot of fun.

Shawna had to head back to meet other friends, so Kim, Michelle and myself headed to Red Lobster for dinner. Bottomless baskets of garlic biscuits are awesome!!! Poor Shawna, if she had been with us it would have been hard to enjoy those around her… she was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease so she’s not allowed to eat ANY gluten. Which is everywhere, and hard to avoid, especially in restaurants where you have to be sure the pan your food is cooked in was not used for anything with flour on it earlier in the day and all that stuff. What a pain. But she’s going to lose a TON of weight, so let’s look at the bright side, shall we? And she can still have her Tim Horton’s coffee.

On Monday, Shawna came to get me and we headed down to meet her other friends at the Deerfoot Outlet Mall. Can you believe I have never been there before? ME? I know. Unreal. Shawna was kind enough to push me around in my wheelchair all afternoon while her friends carried my (many) purchases in their grocery cart. I spent a bundle of money, but the bargains! I mostly bought clothes. Because I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it quite often enough, but NOTHING I OWN FITS ME. Bah.

By the time Shawna took me home, I was too tired to carry on and meet her and her friends for coffee. I was pretty much in bed by 9:00.

The next day, Shawna checked out of her hotel and then came over so we could go for lunch before her flight home. One of Shawna’;s favourite restaurants here is the Cheesecake Cafe, and they have some gluten-free selections as well as a gluten free cheesecake Shawna wanted to try, so off we went. I was SHOCKED at how much their prices have increased since the last time I was there. This city is seriously driving me nuts, it’s not FAIR to those of us that don’t have the ability to work our asses off for $100/hour, you know?? Geez. Anyway, the gluten free cheescake?? GROSS. It was deducted from our bill and I even saw the chef go into the fridge and toss the entire thing in the garbage while we were leaving. Hehe

Yesterday I worked at Troy’s. Nothing exciting to talk about there, except that AH was my driver home. OH, you know how AH and I were supposed to win that $2 million dream home on May 22? Well, we didn’t. So yesterday, when all the other prize winners would be listed on the website, I went to see what we could have won instead. And you know what?? NOTHING. Nada. Zip. Zilch. 6,750 prizes and a 1 in 15 chance of winning one, and we got NOTHING. Not even a $40 DVD player. Hmph.

I took my scooter over to A&W to pick up supper for myself last night (I never said I wonder WHY nothing fits me), and I mentioned to the manager that the last time I had been there, I had ordered and paid for onion rings, and waited and waited for them (as you often do because they are made fresh), and then Ms. Moody Bitch threw cold fries in my to-go bag and handed it to me. I didn’t look in the bag until I got back home, my bad. I figured she was mad at me because I had been sitting there for awhile, watching her rudely interact with customers, and when I noticed her mistakes (i.e., someone ordered two pops with his burgers and fries, and she put the food on his tray and handed it to him without the drinks, and he was about to walk away without thinking when I pointed out “he ordered 2 pops” and she gave me a dirty look and then said to him, “hey buddy, aren’t you going to wait for your drinks?” as if she had never forgotten). Anyway, the manager knew who I was talking about and told me she had been fired, too many complaints. And that they were out of onion rings, but if I came back another time she would give me free ones. Woo hoo! Who wants A&W? My treat.

Today was another visit to my Periodontist for The Gum Scaling. Thanks to Kim for buying me that Oral B Hummingbird for Christmas, the wonderful one-handed flossing MACHINE. My gums are doing good, she said, and I don’t have to go back for 6 months. As opposed to my usual 4 months between visits. Now I am relaxing for the afternoon until hopefully my brother shows up later, to help me out around here and put together a little bookcase I bought last week.

Due to my inability to transfer new footage from my camera, this is a several weeks old one of Pita playing with a fuzzy orange feather she ripped off some other toy. It was filmed when my mom was visiting and you can hear her in the background saying something about needing to wipe down her scooter. I couldn’t get ANY footage of the cats when she was here without her yakking in the background. Hee! (Okay, yeah, I talk too).

  1. I think I have said this before, but that flossing thing sounds like a sex toy.

And I hear you with prices - everywhere! I really need to get a job as CEO of some oil and gas company. Could you do up my resume for that? LOL.

  2. You aren’t gonna like this but…my mom won a mini Sony Hi Fi surround sound system..aka-a Sony music player thingie-she is going to pick it up tomorrow but I believe that it is worth either $199.00 US or $299. US dollars…she was a bit disappointed that she didn’t win something useful for her, but I am not…I get to have her free prize so hopefully it is a cool one-plus there is STILL a chance to win the house ya know! ;)

  3. LOL I’m a friggin’ hero! Your welcome for the flossing thingy I knew it would be awesome for you :) Sunday was so much fun Michelle should be proud of me that I didn’t flirt with any boys ha ha.
