Coming Along, Nice and Slow
August 17th, 2006
Slowly, slowly… I believe I am improving. I am sooooooo tired though, I want to sleep sleep sleep and am dragging my ass from A to B and I can’t stop yawning! My mom says it’s because I am doing more that I am used too. Which isn’t much at all, but certainly more than lying in bed! I hope she’s right. I want my energy back!
Home Care has settled on one woman to come help me Monday to Friday, and then “whoever” on the weekends. My regular lady is nice and everything, but she talks WAY too much. I know her entire life story and the troubles she has had in her marriages; you know, I really don’t need to know that your first husband said he wouldn’t have sex with you because you were fat, so you lost 80 pounds, and he still wouldn’t have sex with you, but he had no qualms about gathering up blankets and tissues and all out masturbating in front of you. Really. I DON’T NEED TO KNOW THAT. She talks non-stop and all I do is grin (or frown, depending on the required response) and nod and look away. She loves my cats though, so that helps.
Speaking of, my cats are freakin’ adorable. I have taken more pics but won’t be able to get them up for awhile. They are… so… MY cats. Cuddly and affectionate and playful and funny and purring all the time. They’ve been sooooo good, especially the past few days now that they are used to having me around again. They leave me alone to work when I am on the computer, and don’t keep me awake by pouncing on me all night. They still curl up on me every chance they get, though!! I love it.
Yesterday I went to physio over at the hospital which turned out to be just a meeting with an O.T. because they were so late… I arrived before 1:00, told reception I had a 1:00 with Erin, and was told to go sit down and they would let her know I was there. 40 minutes later I returned to the desk and let them know I had been waiting for over half an hour. Erin came to get me and said she never heard the page earlier. I had Access booked to pick me up so we had to hurry it along. I answered the same questions I have answered a million times over the past two months, and will have to keep answering because Home Care is also sending an O.T to visit me here (he keeps cancelling… now we are scheduled for Tuesday) and the MS Clinic’s therapy team wants me going there too, my first appointment is September 1. I am demanding long term treatment this time, there has got to be a place I can go for physio on a regular basis to help my MS.
My brother came by on Tuesday, which was a Godsend. He helped me get my scooter out to the mall so I could buy tickets for my Access rides, and stock up on granola bars for easy to reach lunches! (My mom is making me a bunch of sandwiches and bringing them by later to assist in that department as well. I’ve got the food thing covered). He also bought me dinner in the food court and I got my latte before heading home. Once here, he cleaned out the cat boxes really well, took out the garbage and gave my apartment the best vacuuming it has ever experienced in the three years I have lived here. He took a good hour to do it!
So other than that, my days around here have pretty much consisted of getting out of bed when Home Care buzzes, getting showered and dressed, making a coffee, spending time at the computer getting work done and emails, using my walker to get around and feed myself, feed the cats, trying not to make a mess or drop anything, watching TV, talking on the phone, and resting. Nothing too exciting. AH dropped by today for a few minutes, and my mom and Bob are coming by after work. They’re heading off camping (in their new motorhome!) this weekend so they’re coming to see me today instead. They will change my bedsheets, drop off/pick up laundry, and help me with whatever around here. I am so blessed to have all this help, I am soooo lucky! I wish I could win the lottery so I could book a private cruise ship or something for my family and friends (and me!) to take off for a couple weeks and paaaartay. Ohhh that would be fun!
Speaking of fun and partying, on Saturday I’ll be heading out to my buddy Jason’s for the day, he’s got some live music happenin’ in his back yard. There are quite a few people hoping to see me there and willing to help me get around with my big walker! That will be fun. I miss those guys (the Polyjesters) and Terra Hazelton will be there too, so yay! I wish I was in better shape for this, but no matter what it’s going to be good for me. Sunshine, fresh air, music, good friends and TONS of laughter does a body good.
Sometimes, you wish, that a big “TMI” in glowing letters would pop up once people crossed that line where one should not venture. YESH!
Hmm… do you want to send that amazing vacuumer over to my place? I’ve been putting it off all summer because there is nothing in the world I HATE more. LOL.
Have fun with the PJ’s tomorrow. I thought there wasn’t going to be any partying this month??? Heehee….
