Three More Sleeps

The countdown is on!
Our Occupational Therapist has been working with me and my wrist a lot, giving me exercises and testing my strength and stuff. The other day she gave me some yellow putty to squeeze and stretch with my fingers. She asked me to make some things… “make a cow. A bird. A teepee!” So I start shaping a teepee, and it’s not exactly looking like a teepee. I laugh, “Now I am making fallic symbols. I have been here far too long!! She HOWLED.
The past couple days have been typically quiet for me around here… resting, eating, physio, etc. No exciting visitors or anything.
So, this afternoon I am sitting on my bed reading a magazine when the Unit Clerk brought me the phone. It was my friend Shawna in Winnipeg, who has been calling regularly. This time, she was calling because she read that I’ll be home Thursday, and she wants to drive out to be my personal slave for a visit! At first I was a little hesitant, because I will be overwhelmed with work and kitties all over me, plus just simply trying to heal, but as the idea sunk in I liked it a lot. I do have piles of work to do (considering I’ve missed 6 weeks, plus the usual quarterly GST returns are due July 31) but having another person around will be great. For company, and she said she doesn’t mind helping me out a bit. Even to help with meals; and with her car, we won’t be stuck at home 100% of the time! We can visit air conditioned places. So she plans to arrive sometime tomorrow night and will come get my keys, and go to my apartment. My kitties are meeting soooo many different people that are wandering into my place! My apartment has never seen so much action, I should leave more often! Poor Shawna is allergic to cats, but hopefully she won’t be too bad… she can take Benadryl and sleep in my room with the door closed until I get home, and then we’ll see how she’s feeling.
Elaine returns to her Lodge tomorrow. I am REALLY going to miss her, I love that woman. I gave her my number and said unless I hear differently, I will assume she is at that lodge and will visit her there. And I will, for sure!!
Anyway, my feet are still puffy and I am trying to drink lots of water and keep them up as much as possible. So, I’m off to do some more of that. Cya!
Great to hear that Shawna will be coming down to visit you as well. You can bet that the kitties are going to be SO thrilled to have someone around full time again, so Shawna can get to see how awesome they really are.
Just be sure not to go out TOO many times with the car, or your kitties will be sooooooo lonely and then I will just have to steal them officially when you are out of the house!!
heehee Hmmm-I DO have a key and I CAN run fast in high heels…this could be a plan!! lol
Lisa, if you were going to steal the kitties, you should have done it awhile ago so you could have saved yourself 40 minutes of driving each day! LOL.
Can you get free Foot Massage?
Noooo I don’t get free foot massages! The physio department up here is under-staffed, otherwise I just might. They actually have parrafin wax treatments for arthritic hands… I have been begging for that, arthritis or not!!
Lisa, you can come visit my kitties any time you want, but no stealing them, thankyouverymuch.
Well I guess I should change my plans…abduct the kitties BEFORE you arrive back home and demand some sort of ransom…chocolates? Not anymore..sigh..all the sunflowers in your house? Tempting!! Highspeed internet? NOW we’re talking! lol
Ok I’ve snuck onto Donna’s computer but I don’t know how to make the message from me and I don’t want to pittle around with it and mess it up…so it’s me Shawna! Anyway I made here and I’m ready and willing to be Donna’s personal slave, lol. Anyway the kitties are just fine and so far my sneezing and stuffiness is in check. But really Donna how do you get anything done with those two, lol. Not only are they darn cute to look at but when you’re on the computer their favourite place to snuggle up or stick their bums is in front of the computer screen, lol. Anyway all is well with the kitties, we played, we snuggled, we frustrated Auntie Shawna while trying to unpack. Oh and as a side note….anyone that thinks it a good idea to DRIVE from Winnipeg to Calgary and save yourself a few extra bucks on plane fare, let me tell you….IT’S NOT! Trust me you lose your mind somewhere around Swift Current and you want to scream bloody murder and jump out of the car, lol. Good thing there are people here that make the VERY LONG drive worthwhile.
Hey Shawna! Look at you trying to steal Donna’s identity while I am trying to steal her kitties!! Welcome back in town!
Be careful of Pita (the skinnier one)-she has LOVED to start a new habit anytime Russ has come over with me. She likes to cuddle with him right around his neck (wait till you see the picture I got!!), and then she FARTS!
She is a stinker so watch that she doesn’t do it in your face-she does it all the time to Russ! lol
Good luck doing anything at the apartment with those two kritters around-they are more fun to play with than do anything else!! hah There is a toy drawer (cabinet right next to the tv) that has their FAVORITE toy, the mouse (which squeaks like crazy now) and the bell toy…be sure to use that cause they go bonkers for it. Plus it poops them out enough to not want to walk around you and fart all the tiime! lol
