Daily Ramblings #45375658

I am still full from dinner last night. Mom, Bob and I went to Chianti’s and had a feast. I haven’t had fettuccine alfredo in years, and at Chianti’s I can get it with prosciutto ham and peas, which for some reason has always been my favourite way to get it. It’s not actually on the menu but they’ll do it, I highly recommend it. Add on the warm bread dipped in olive oil and balsamic vinegar and the most divine ice cream desserts I’ve ever tasted, and you’ve got yourself one hell of a meal.
Bob told the waiter it was his birthday and got free cheesecake. The man is 63 years old and turned that on January 7th. Gotta love ‘im.
We took my kittens to the Vet yesterday for their first shots and check up. They were so good! I expected them to freak out and panic and hate me for the rest of the night, and it wasn’t like that at all. As usual it was easy to get them into the cat carrier,
and they didn’t complain too much. Pita is the only one who ever meows, I have never heard a peep out of Pepper. The vet and his staff were really nice, and it was just a matter of getting them weighed (Pita is noticeably smaller than Pepper and not filling out as much, so I was a little worried, but she’s fine), confirming they are female, poking and prodding to check their ears, mouth and temperature, giving them a shot in their backs and force feeding them a pill for worms. Sounds like torture to me, but they took it all like troopers. Pita even made a toy out of the plastic needle cover; she will make a toy out of anything.
That evening at home everything was normal, I was told they may be a little tired, but I saw no sign of that. They played as usual and Pita even broke the jingly hanging spider off it’s elastic string, so she now just plays with the hanging string. I wish I had video of her hanging on that tree and flipping herself around. A picture could never do it justice!
Speaking of pictures, I am still posting older ones that I took the first couple weeks I had them. I have slowed down in the picture taking. Developing all that film is getting expensive! I have 3 cameras on the go right now, in various places, so there is always one within reach for those Kodak moments. One is ready to be developed now, and should be later today if I get my butt moving.
If anyone knows of a decent digital camera that can be held and operated with one hand (the left), or has a VERY light touch button so that my right hand fingers can press it on a good day, let me know.
By the way, AH’s wife and kids have all moved back in. And no one moved out. So that means, he has his mother, sister, brother, nephew, wife and three kids all living at his house. Nine people in his 5 bedroom house. I didn’t ask him how many bathrooms he has.
Anyway, our friendship continues and sometimes I think it’s even getting better now. Because we know we are friends only, with no expectations of anything else now ever, so it seems to have lightened things somewhat. Or maybe that’s just me. I know he is thrilled to have his kids around again, but he is NOT happy that his wife comes with them. It’s an unfortunate situation when you are suddenly married to a woman you barely even know and making babies because family pressured you and it is expected of you, but in the end it is his life and he did have a choice. Hindsight is 20/20. Now that they have decided to give it another go, I hope they find a way to work it out between them, because in the end it is the kids that will pay if they separate again in a couple years or can’t be loving towards each other now. I pulled a Dr. Laura on him and said he needs to act like he loves her, treat her like she is the most amazing woman and most wonderful wife he could ever ask for, and then she will reciprocate and then it will become that. If you behave like you are already in an ideal marriage, it will turn into that. Of course, he looked at me like I was The Crazy. I know, I know, what the hell do I know, Miss Never-Been-In-A-More-Committed-Relationship-Than-The-One-With-Her-Cats. But, that one is going great after 4 whole weeks, thankyouverymuch.
On Wednesday I had an interview at Access’s head office because my service expires soon and they need to talk to me to find out if I am able to use the Transit system on a daily basis (NOT!). They are trying to cut back on the amount of people that use Access (they were way over budget last year) so we are all being subject to these interviews. AH was my driver on the way there which was a good sign for me. I got myself a coffee and waited in the cafeteria for my interviewer. I was expecting a stiff old man in a suit to walk in, and instead was greeted by a cute young guy with long red hair, dressed in jeans, and in a wheelchair. He was SO nice. I am glad they have someone who requires accessibility himself doing these interviews. Anyway, I am pretty sure I will be okay and my service will continue as it has been. I will find out in a couple weeks.
Yesterday I went to my hairdresser, and AH’s friend (who still owes me hummus!) was my driver, so it was a great Access week! I haven’t seen him in ages. He was supposed to drop the other woman in the car off at her house on 38th Street NE (a few blocks from me), but thought it was 38th Street South East and drove all the way over there before he realized. So that put him way behind (see, this is how it happens, and by the end of the day we are waiting for an hour!) but he did a smart thing and dispatched his next pick up out to another driver. WHY CAN’T THEY ALL DO THAT. Anyway, he said he was “distracted by my beauty”. Or actually, I said it and he just agreed. “Can you blame me?” Heh. He’s so amicable.
Last time I saw my hairdresser we were talking about bookkeeping and I was going to be doing hers, but since then the other owner’s cousin has moved to Calgary and that’s what she does, so she is doing it. That’s cool, as long as they have someone they trust. I sure was looking forward to free haircuts and pedicures though! Darn.
Pita decides to sneaks up on her…
…….
Attack!
Take it outside the box.
But we always make up.
Hi Sweetie!
They certainly look no worse for the wear, do they?
They really were very good! A video camera would be just so great to really capture their personalities. We love them and are so glad you have them.
I’ve been reading your blog since I have become a huge lindy fan. Normally I don’t post- now I come to see picture’s of your kitties (they are gorgeous). But you asked about a digital camera. I think this camera here: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10071891&catid=11719&logon=&langid=EN would probably be really good for you. Your best bet though is to go to someplace like future shop or best buy where they have the cameras out for you to play with and test them out. And stay away for entry level cameras like 400’s or 500’s and pay the little extra for the 420 520’s or up. They are generally still working out the bugs on entry levels. Oh and also stay away for kodak digital camera’s they might as well be a disposable camera.
Please keep posting pictures of those kitties!
I love those pictures as usual, just wish the kitties were playing with eachother when I was over the other night. I would have loved to see them wrestling eachother all over the place-that is what I get for bringing them a toy that kept them busy for hours on end! hah
