Long Weekends are Too Short

I am quite impressed with the movie selections AH taped for me, so far. I popped in a tape on Saturday and had no idea what it was even after it started, because AH has this thing with not taping from the VERY beginning so the credits and title of the movie aren’t even there. It was in Arabic and sub-titled, and they talk so damn fast, there was a lot of quick rewinds needed so I am glad it was on a tape and not a DVD. A little while into it I called him and left a message – “what is this, ‘how to make a suicide bomber’?” By the end I was so moved, it was very powerful, and I realized what the movie might be – and used Google to confirm it. Paradise Now, which won Best Foreign Film at the Golden Globes. I had been wanting to see it, it has been on my DVD queue list with the company I recently cancelled my membership with because of their poor service… I’ll get another one somewhere else, there are so many online DVD rental places to choose from now.

Tonight I threw in another video, and again there was no opening credits so it was another guessing game. But I knew the second I heard Orlando Bloom’s voice that it was Kingdom of Heaven, another movie I have been wanting to see. So, score a couple for AH.

Yesterday I went to a BBQ at Christine’s house. She coined it “girls only” because her husband and his friends were off in BC golfing, so this was for the golf widows and a few extras like myself. One woman brought her husband because he doesn’t golf, and Christine made sure the hot young male cook from the Pub was on hand to light up the barby, cook the steaks and serve us drinks. Two men among about 15 women. “Chum” (as we were told to call our cook, Christine even made him a muscle shirt with that name haha) was going a little mad with all that estrogen around. I think he quite enjoyed himself and may very well now have a “thing” for older women.

It was great not to be the oldest women somewhere! Almost everyone was over 40, and so warm, sexy and funny. It felt so good to be surrounded by this group. I had a blast. I also didn’t drink any alcohol, and Chum kept me well stocked with bottles of water. I figured I’d rather blow my calories on food than drink them! No one ever goes hungry at Christine’s. She is the hostess with the mostess. I was there from 2:00 until almost 10:00 p.m. and left before they even brought out dessert. It’s a never ending food fest at that house! I brought the hummus and pita, of course.

The sad point of the day was Christine’s kitty, Brew… she is almost 19 years old now, and not holding up very well at all. Last time I saw her she looked 100 times better… she’s not eating, and throwing up almost everything she does eat. Christine is thinking she may have to put her down this week, and is having a very hard time with that. I’ve only had my kitties three weeks and I can’t imagine losing them, never mind after 19 years! “This is the longest relationship I have ever had in my life”, Christine said. Yup, there is something to be said about that pet relationship. It’s very special. I told Christine about when I had my past life regression, and was taken to “the other side”, and I saw my cat Boots from when I was a kid. He jumped up into my arms. I honestly don’t know if it was all bullshit, but it seemed to make Christine feel better. I do believe our cherished pets will be waiting for us over there, anyway, whether what I saw was my imagination or not.

Oh yeah! On Saturday night Michelle and I went to the Pub to see Heather Blush. She was great as expected. This was a fundraiser to hopefully raise some money for the making of a music video (I love indie artists!) I tossed a few dollars in and also bought a CD to help the cause. That gets me on the list to attend the screening when the video is completed too, so that will be fun.

On a totally non-music related point, Heather is so cute. I would give my eye teeth for her body. She has such a nice curvy figure – none of this size two stuff going on. A real woman’s body, the kind that if I were a man I would much rather be reaching out to touch than the skin and bones of supermodels! She is one sexy babe.

As is her guitar player, who I found out was born in New Zealand and is part Maori, which explains why I find him so attractive. I’m a big fan of those dark features. And his long, thick, gorgeous, straight black hair is all the way down his back. AND he has lots of family in NZ and goes back EVERY TWO YEARS!! Sigh… marry me! Hee.

Oh, wait, he smokes. That’s right. It’s so over, sorry mate.

Happy Victoria Day, y’all. Seriously one of those “any excuse for a day off” days. It would be nice if we could have holidays on all the Royals birthdays, because, you know, they all mean so much to our daily lives as Canadians.

My great photography skillz… it would be a lot easier to get pictures of them ON me if someone else was around to take them!

I have a shirt with ties and the kitties really like it.

They’re finally into the whole “hanging out on my lap” thing. Yay!

  1. That last picture of your kitties…did you set them up that way or did they really choose to hug eachother like that? That is ANOTHER fabulous picture-I can hardly handle it!! lol

Sorry to hear about Christine’s cat-when an animal stops eating and vomits, that is the last sign of possible life. We knew it was over when our dog was doing that-it is the final stage when the body breaks down. I know what it is like to see the end, so hopefully Christine will be comforted knowing that 19 years have been good to her with her cat. My dog never really suffered through his cancer treatments, but when he started throwing up the day before his death, I do believe he was in pain. I feel sorry for Christine having to make that decision but right now it is for the best.

That is why I am just too leary of getting another pet-the incredible loss we all went through when Bobo died was so much that it is scary to go through it again.

But when I see pictures of your kitties, it really makes me believe that life shouldn’t just end when one life leaves us…I guess it will take time, or it will take about 30 minutes counting when I get to your house, snatch your kitties away and bring them back home! ;)

  2. I never set up the pictures - I’m just grateful if my camera is in my hand when they’re in a position like that! They’re pretty cuddly with each other and it melts my heart.

  3. That is UNREAL! I love it..you were smart to get two kitties-I didn’t know how much they actually could love being with eachother just cause I am used to seeing older cats live together and never talk to eachother..much like a married couple! lol

Good on you for keeping a camera around-you are getting unbelievable keepsakes!!!

  4. Have you considered tivo?

  5. Someone would have to walk me through that whole set up - I don’t know ANYONE who has it and I really know nothing about it except what I’ve read in other people’s blogs. Something to research, anyway!

Talk to me! I won't bite.
