No Kitty for You!
April 8th, 2006
There are no kittens to be had in the City of Calgary.
We tried a couple pet stores, checked the newspapers and called every place we could think of that might have kittens. No luck. We were told cats don’t generally breed much in the winter, so wait a few weeks and then there should be more around.
So I may not have one by my birthday
I feel like a parent trying to adopt a baby that has everything in place ready for the baby, just no baby… and goes to pick him/her up and is told the birth mother changed her mind at the last minute.
Okay, maybe not quite the same as that, but I was disappointed nonetheless.
Be patient, maybe you’ll get a kitty born ON your birthday
Maybe he’ll have dark wavy hair and dreamy brown eyes and you can name him AH
Now THAT would be karma! Did I ever tell you I had a cat growing up that I named ‘kitty’? Guess I wasn’t too inventive when I was 5
maisy was born april 2…. maybe kittens exist, they just aren’t ready to leave their mommas yet. the kitten was mine by may 23…
don’t worry, you’ll get other things for your birthday
I hope you get your kitty soon! I would love one, too, but Mike is sooo allergic.
You sound like me when I was looking to get my puppy Sebastian who was supposed to be a Valentine’s Day present. We spent the week calling around to every puppy breeder we could find but they had already sold all their puppies for the holiday.
Hang in there kiddo, the perfect kitty is out there just waiting for you! Now I’m glad that I had to wait or else I never would have found my Sebastian!
Did you try the Calgary Humane Society? If you check out their site they have actual pictures of their cats online under the ADOPTION/BROWSE site…they always have hundreds there…
Oh I get it-you want a KITTEN..maybe this is a sign that you should try to rescue a cat that is slightly older…certainly it will take you out of those crucial early life stages where cats will chew anything, poop anywhere and aren’t litter box trained. The Humane Society should have some slightly older ones at hand.
Argh!! Lisa stop it. I am getting a kitten this time and nothing you can say will make me change my mind. Been there, done that, not doing it again. Please stop with the Humane Society preaching. If I can get a kitten from there I will, it’s not like I haven’t tried.
Donna, I am sure that Lisa was only trying to help you out [wink]
Good luck on finding your kitten!!
If there is one thing you need to know about me, it is that I am stubborn. Lisa and I had this discussion in an earlier comment thread and I thought I had made myself clear. There are also medical reasons why I need a new kitten, and it bothers me when I feel someone is pushing me about something when I never asked for their help and have already talked about what I want. That’s all, the end.
