Update on AH setting me up with that guy: Nothing yet. He hasn’t seen him or given him my number. I talk to AH every couple days but I haven’t asked him about it because I don’t want to bug him, I figure he’ll get my number to him when he sees him again. I’m in no hurry so he certainly doesn’t need to be.
Update on my life: Work, lattes, clients, faxes, chiropractor, emails, movies, work, wing night, taxes, work, shopping, coffee, phone calls. The usual, with a little more work related stuff in there.
Yesterday I gave AH a gift bag as a thank you gift for all the stuff he does for me… the cab rides he never charges me for, taking me to the bank on his own time, taping movies for me and bringing them over, the regular phone calls just to say hello and chat about everything… and the hugs and smiles that make me weak in the knees (but he doesn’t need to know that anymore). He’s a really good friend and I have been wanting to take him out for dinner to say “thanks”. However, that seems to be an impossible feat because his life is crazy busy. CRAZY. The more I get to know him, the more I see it was NOT just an excuse he used on me! So I gave up on trying to get him out for dinner and figured I would give him something he would like, but would never bother getting for himself. So, since purple is his favourite colour, I found him a nice purple silk tie which ended up being $10 cheaper than the sale price it was tagged at, so that was a steal. I figured I would add a DVD too, and went looking through the action/adventure movies. I don’t know what all he has or hasn’t seen, because he sees most movies, and then I was stuck on what he would actually like enough to own. So, I decided a TV series would be better and got him Season One of 24. I figure, with his schedule, I doubt he’s seen many, if any, episodes, and I know he would love that show. Then I tossed in some Cadbury Mini-Eggs for good measure, because they come in a purple bag, and that’s only the BEST CANDY EVER! I have a love/hate relationship with the chocolate aisle this time of year.
Anyway, he loved it but does not like the fact that I spent money on him (”the whole point of me helping you is to HELP you and save you money, and then you go and buy me stuff! Don’t do that!”) and he blames me for his almost being late for work this morning because he is hooked on “24″ and can’t tear himself away. Oops.
Last week I also did a little shopping for myself. I needed to go downtown to get my bus pass anyway (you can only buy the one I use for Access at the main downtown transit office) so I decided to make it an afternoon downtown. Which was a mistake, because sometimes I think I can do more than I actually can when planning in advance. Wandering around stores all afternoon is not something I can do on foot, I should know this. But the prospect of bumming around the mall downtown all afternoon sounded good at the time I booked my rides. I actually spent more time sitting in the food court drinking coffee and sending text messages to pass the time than I did wandering through stores. I did, however, manage to pick up a CD I wanted, and charge up a little something on my Bay card. I avoided the MAC counter like a good girl, but only because Estee Lauder’s “FREE GIFT WITH PURCHASE” caught my eye on my way there. I remember having a makeover at Estee Lauder for a wedding a few years ago and I really liked their mascara, and I needed mascara, so why not? The fact I usually spend about $7 on my L’Oreal Voluminous mascara was not an issue, there was a free gift involved! You needed to spend $29.50 to get it. I asked the woman about mascaras, and she pointed out their “highest volume” one. $27.50. Argh. What can I get for $2? Nothing, of course. Oh, you have an eyelash conditioner that you put on your lashes first, to lengthen and condition, and that is your best seller? $21? Okay.
So, my free gift wasn’t exactly free (are they ever?), but I still love it. A huge make up bag, plus a smaller one inside for lipsticks or something, a lipstick I like, a lip gloss I LOVE, another (mini) mascara, a blush I can’t open (remind me, someone, next time you are over, open my blush I will never wear!), a little jar of face cream, a make up brush, and a great little plastic hair brush. Love it.
My boys are heading out on tour for a couple weeks. Before they leave town, they need to stop by here and drop off their receipts because their GST return is due March 31!! Jason says I’m on the To Do list. That’s cool; it is my goal in life to be on every man’s “To Do” list.
Now I want to go tobogganing!! We have so much snow! It’s a pain for drivers and people trying to get around, but if I was a kid, I would so be out there building snowmen and making snow angels and having snowball fights and going tobogganing. It’s perfect… lots of snow, yet not deathly cold. It’s going to be really nice this weekend. Ohhhh if I had more mobility and physical fitness and money and the right clothes and no work piled up on my office floor and the means to get places, I would so find a log cabin with a fireplace near a ski hill and just GO.
