Tag, You’re It!

I saw AH briefly today as he dropped off a movie and returned my cookie tins from the Christmas baking I gave him. When I talked to him earlier, he mentioned that it is tradition to never return tins or containers empty… so his mom put “a little something in there” for me. I got all excited… his mom is always cooking, and usually Middle Eastern food… I bet I’m getting homemade falafels or hummus or something! Yum! When I opened the tin in anticipation, there was a box of Nature Valley trail mix bars inside. I laughed my head off. I don’t know why I found that so funny… I guess I’ve always thought of his mother as some sort of perfect homemaker Goddess who always has homemade everything just laying about, ready to serve the multitude of children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews that come traipsing into her house at any given time. That buying a box of granola bars from the store would be unheard of when you can sow your own oats and tend to the bees out back for honey and make your own from scratch. So this suddenly made her seem more real and human to me. Apparently, his mom was a little upset that AH didn’t give her any notice that he was returning the tins today. Damn him, I bet I WOULD have gotten falafels if he had!! Hehe

Now, when I finish the granola bars, do I have to return the box, filled with something else? Hmmm…

Lynne was looking for volunteers to tag for this Meme. Since I like doing this kind of stuff, I’m just going ahead and taking it!

  1. Hmm… so how does this work? I post a comment with my blog address here and then post my answers over there?

Well, that’s what I’m doing anyway, whether it’s right or not. ;-)

  2. YAY I GOT TAGGED!! Here I go! I will just do what Michelle did-I am more of her follower! lol

  3. Guess I need a blog to play this game! ;)

  4. And just why don’t you have a blog?!? All the cool people do!!! ;-)

  5. I bet she does… and just keeps it a secret so she can talk about us!!! :P

  6. Yay! So far you are the only blogger who was brave enough to take my tagged challenge!
By the way, I have to agree with you on the mashed potatoes and gravy. You can’t hate anything made out of a potato.

  7. You know, I actually went on a potato strike for a good ten years or so. We ate them EVERY day when I was growing up and after I left home, it was years before I ever cooked or ordered another potato.

  8. LOL No I don’t have a blog, I’m too technically challenged to know how to use one! But I’m still COOL ;) I think

  9. Hi Donna
I’m finally back at my computer! Glad to hear you’re sounding so well. Loved the story of the empty tins!

Talk to me! I won't bite.
