From MS to Madness
August 22nd, 2005
Well I guess I’ve had a pretty busy week. I worked and saw friends and volunteered at the casino and saw my chiropractor and went to my Weight Watchers meeting and lost another pound. I met with a new client who gave me tons of work (and I almost worried when I gave up that big client in May! I’m busier than ever). Volunteering at the Casino was fun. I do it every 18 months for the only MS charity I support here (I don’t support the MS Society and their negative, drug focused views), Direct-MS. I’m a cashier, which basically means I get to hang out in the cage with a bunch of people and talk and laugh and occasionally cash in someone’s chips. We also get unlimited bottled water, coffee and pop all day and free lunch in the dining room or cafe. If I hadn’t booked my ride to pick me up so early, I could have had supper too… I’ll have to remember that for next time. Although it wasn’t a hard day for the typical person (pretty slack), it was hard on me just to be up and alert for that long without resting and by the time I got home at 8:00 I was wiped. I needed the next day off to recover!
There was another volunteer also with MS, Nick, who was working the night shift and showed up on the coolest piece of equipment ever for a person with mobility problems… the Segway. I had been working with his sister all day and she had been going on and on about how that thing has changed his life, given him his legs back. It’s really cool and now I want one. Nick offered to come by and let me try his out, give me a tutorial. They’re only $5,000 plus. Next paycheque, it is mine. Heh. I will take Nick up on the lesson though, that will be fun. Did I mention he is cute?
Oh yeah, speaking of men, I was hit on three times last week. I think it is true what they say, you carry a “someone wants me!” vibe when you’re “involved” (I use that term lightly) with someone and that makes you more attractive to others. I may just buy a wedding ring and see what that gets me.
Gripe of the day: Telephone solicitors who call you about a great deal they have going on in your area for cleaning your furnace when you live in an apartment. Oh, and the realtors who send out those recorded voice messages into your voice mail to tell you they are oh-so-interested in selling your house. Oh oh oh and don’t even get me started on junk faxes!! Give me email spam any day rather than any of that.
So there were full frontal nude photos taken of Jude Law last week while he was vacationing in France. They were available on the internet to any “internet savvy people” out there. Well, I would like to know where my internet savvy friends are and why those photos never ended up in my inbox, hmm?? Apparently this was not a huge issue. Ahahahaha Poor Jude. Hah! That dog deserves every “he ain’t no Tommy Lee” shot he gets!
Ohhh yes, the Polyjesters had a show on Saturday. It was crazy fun. Lots of young loud people with lots of alcohol in their systems (on and off the stage!) It was a sold out crowd. Packed. Hot. Noisy. Fun. Madness. They had family in from Saskatchewan and partied until the wee wee hours (I did not stay, I was there earlier to hang with the guys and drop into the motor home for a beer, as is my duty as their #1 groupie fan, and it was a long, hot night… that place was a sweatbox and I was drained!) I was sitting at a table with 11 people; we were supposed to be 13 but one couple didn’t make it. My live music buddy Jay was singing along enthusiastically (I gave him the CD in April, I guess he likes it) and left with 3 more CDs, a T-shirt and a tank top for his wife. Lisa and Russ were there, and Lisa’s mom even came. Michelle was there. Heather was there. And I know if Kim, Emma and Shawna were in Calgary they would have been there too. I think about all the PolyGigs I went to alone so many times over the years because I could not find people who wanted to go with me and I refused to miss them, anytime, anyplace, even sitting outside in the cold and rain. I cherish those times now because that is when Jason and I became friends (me, sitting alone, lalala, Jason is nice and will talk to me). Now, you all KNOW IT and you GET IT and I LOVE YOU FOR IT. I will never sit alone at a PolyGig again.
I remember I had to work at the Bingos and those were so much fun-especially when you could get your free food too! WOOT!! The PolyJ’s are sooooo great-those boys should really thank you for promoting them SO well because they have more new fans thanks to you! We all LOVED the show but the venue was rather…meh…too darn hot and crowded-plus not so great service-but the boys were worth the entire heat trip! Thanks for bringing them in to all of our lives
I SO would’ve been there had I been in Calgary. Should of planned my trip for just 4 weeks earlier, DARN! I will catch a show of the Polyjesters again…maybe in Winnipeg…pass that hint along again to Jason would you, lol.
I used to work bingo’s and did one for a casino once and it was kind of fun, you get free food and bevvies so that was a bonus.
I thought about coming up there to check out the Poly boys but I don’t know too much about them and I’ve never heard any of their music (i’ve only just read about it)
glad you all had a great time.
Oh yes have done many Bingo’s for Madis school, they don’t use CHIPS in bingo silly rabbit! lol But I understand your meaning.
Alicia,,,get INTO it! LOL you’ll love the boys. Go to their website www.polyjesters.com and have a listen, are happy happy minstrels. And yes Em and I were pouting BIG TIME on Saturday night, I should have gone. Glad it was good, if there was ever any doubt!
Did I say Bingo? Where are you people getting Bingo? CASINO. You know, the big gambling places with slot machines and blackjack and all that. I exchanged thousands of dollars in CHIPS.

SHIZNAT YES you BET we woulda been there…Kim (OTLA!) and I moped together on MSN while you were undoubtedly laughing your asses off at something wonderful. Hmph. We won’t be alone in Toronto, that’s for sure… I’m craaaazy excited!! I hope Pierre does show up at the show, too. It’ll be such a fun couple of days… ALALALALA! SUPACRAZY!
