The Power of the Mind

Holy long overdue blog update, Batman!

The week before last was nuts with work and I got a little overwhelmed with things I needed to get done by the end of the week. Tuesday started off nicely, I met my friend Michelle for breakfast and we made plans for her to pick me up later. We were meeting our friend Kim from Medicine Hat who was in town to catch a flight to Toronto the next morning. So I spent the rest of the day being pampered with a manicure, pedicure, then downtown to get my hair done. By the time I got home it was almost 7:00 and in my email was a note from the man whose business plan I am working on. I was expecting to have the week off from that, because he needed to come to town and get information about his competition. He was doing that over the long weekend, so I wasn’t planning to write his executive summary or anything more until I had that. Well, his email requested that he have something together to show his family before Friday, and just leave the competition section blank. That put me into PANIC MODE because I was supposed to go out that night, had appointments the next day, work all day Thursday, and two clients needed their quarterly books done and GST returns filed by the end of the month (that weekend). And somewhere in there I had to tidy up around here and go through my things to take to a friend’s yard sale on Friday afternoon. I decided I would have to bail on Kim and Michelle that night in order to prevent a nervous breakdown!

So I managed to make it through the week. Meditation is helping. Visualization and affirmations are helping. A lot! I swear to God, I went to bed that night, did my countdown to get me into a relaxed state and started visualizing that everything I needed to write for the business plan would flow through me the next day. I had told my client he would receive something from me by Thursday night, but I sent it to him Wednesday night because it all came to me so easily. He wrote back “WOW” so I guess it worked. I visualized the week going smoothly and me staying relaxed and calm, managing to get everything done. I got everything done without a hitch and didn’t stress once. I also started visualizing that I would hear from AH soon. I haven’t heard a peep from him in the month since I basically ended it, but I was wanting to (because there is something else to come from knowing him, of that I am sure), so I started creating that energy. Swear.To.God. First I bumped into a friend of his in the mall, which to me was a sign he was closer, and two days later I heard from him. That was Monday. I didn’t hear from him again all week, so on Friday night I went to my “centre” and visualized an entire conversation we were going to have the next day, exactly how it would go, with the outcome being him coming over here. It all happened. The very next day. Swear.To.God. (Okay it wasn’t 100% everything I had visualized, i.e. the conversation was on MSN and not over iced cappuccinos at Tim Hortons, but who’s complaining?!)

So what does this mean, I have super powers now?? Ahahaha! Well, I don’t know. All I know is, I am visualizing myself as slim and healthy and recovering from MS. That will not happen overnight, but it will happen. You can’t use this to control other people, so it’s not like I can make AH or any other man do something he doesn’t want to do (darn!) but I can ask for things I want and situations to do with another person that are realistic, I guess. i.e. visualizing Johnny Depp leaving Vanessa Paradis and coming to Calgary to film a movie and then fall in love with me is not going to create that situation, no matter how many hours I devote to it LOL. You can visualize good things that you want to come your way and can never use it to hurt anyone else. And then there is always the “be careful what you wish for” things to consider… sometimes when you get what (or who) you want, you wish you hadn’t lol I guess it is best to focus on health, success, financial gains, and loving, healthy relationships, and then let life happen to bring you these things in whatever form it sees fit, rather than a specific job or person. By the way, I am learning this though The Silva UltraMind System, and I’m taking it very, very slow as I learn. I’m just doing the free online version but I like the results so far!

So anyway, the yard sale last weekend was a great success. It was at my friend Lisa’s house, she of The Italian Family with All The Food! Hee! I went with my Weight Watchers Points in my head and managed to make it through the day intact even though I was surrounded by a million or so points worth of food I could have helped myself to. It was so hot out in the sun though, that my mad sales and cash box skillz could not be put to good use. I was quite useless sitting several feet from the tables in a shaded area. Luckily, between Lisa, her boyfriend Russ, and her mom Maria everything was under control. I made about $20 that day on little stuff. The sale went on all weekend and they were kind enough to sell my things and presented me with a bag of cash on Monday with $113.50 inside! Lisa and her mom sold a lot and made decent money, but it probably hurt to see some of those nice things go for SO MUCH less than they paid when they bought them. They had really nice things, one woman commented she may buy a new house just to decorate it with these things! They brought my things that didn’t sell back on Monday, but that was one basket as opposed to the car load I arrived with. Lisa’s brother bought my breadmaker which was my biggest item. Then we all went for a nice lunch at Joey Tomatoes.

Then what… the usual… chiropractor visits, Weight Watchers meetings… (8.2 pounds so far. It’s been really slow the past couple weeks, I am hoping it is water retention or something and will be made up for soon!) I finished up the business plan and should be starting another one next week. I had lunch with Eric on Friday and showed him my taped episode of Rock Star: INXS so I can get another person addicted. Made a CD for my buddy Aaron that he should be coming to grab from me sometime before he leaves for two weeks in INDIA on Thursday!! Lucky bugger. I hope he has lots of room in his suitcase to bring home food. Bought Rob Thomas and The Killers yesterday. Watched Pirates of the Caribbean again with AH last night. How about that? Johnny Depp was the sexiest man alive to me for about 18 years until I laid my eyes on AH and I got to see BOTH of them last night! Woo hoo!

So now it is Sunday, and I’m chillin’. I have a very busy week ahead with work and appointments, so I need today to recharge, relax and visualize a positive outcome!

  1. “So now it is Sunday, and I’m chillin’”, have you just picked up the word chillin’ recently by chance, lol. It’s a new one for me, “just chillin’ in the villin’” ;) .

  2. Well look at you all busy like a crazy person! That whole meditation thing sounds really good to me. It IS all in the mind-do you know that your brain has something called pathways-where as soon as you visualize or say something, there is a neuron that travels to the brain and gives it the signal immediately. If plants can respond to human vibrations=think of what the brain can do! I am a firm believer that if you program your brain to think one way, it WILL. So keep at it with the meditating-talk to yourself, heal yourself and get in touch with who you are! I love it-I totally sound Scientific! haha

  3. Behold the power of Donna’s mind! Wow girl, watch out! Can you please visualize me a size 10 living in San Fransisco being ridiculously successful? Thanks! :)

  4. Yeah sure Kim, everyone start putting in your orders, I’ll fill them ASAP. Ahahahahaha
