Happy Anniversary, and Here is your Free Gift!

I just realized it has been an entire year since I started this blog. In that time I have written 120 posts (121!), received 292 comments, and now average about 400-500 hits/day. A lot of those hits are probably spam robots, but whatever. Spam Karma keeps them from commenting, so all hits are welcome! The entry that gets the most hits is this one. Louise Hay draws ‘em in!

I need a haircut soooooo badly!! I don’t want to fork over the dough to see Ghazi right now, so I went to book an appointment with my favourite cheap reasonably priced hairdresser today, and she’s not working until Thursday, when I won’t be around. So I booked a pedicure for Tuesday instead. If the top of me has to look like shit, at least the bottom won’t! I think that is a sign to get down to Ghazi this week, though. Hmmm…

Tuesday evening I was over by Edo Japan in the mall having supper when I saw Eric! I haven’t seen him in so long. He is the teenager I met at that high school I spoke at last year, who was living in a group home. Anyway, he joined me and we caught up on our lives and promised to keep in better touch. He’s such a great kid. I walked (scootered) him back to work and found myself in front of a stand of “Good Fortune Jewelry”, really pretty beaded jewelry with charms that symbolize different things. I ended up with two bracelets, earrings and necklaces to assist me in attracting love, romance, well-being, serenity, self-confidence, and success. I never said I didn’t have a retail therapy problem, okay?? Anyway, I need all the help I can get in those areas right now!

Wednesday was my Weight Watchers meeting. Me and Weight Watchers have become good friends again, it’s going really well. It helps that I have made this the number one priority at the moment, not letting anything into my life that will take me off course. I will be challenged soon enough, I am sure, life is like that! But hopefully I’ll be ready to deal with whatever comes my way by the time it does.

So we have no pool at my building anymore  They have closed it for good because of all the problems they have been having with it (I blame stupid careless tenants that don’t follow the rules!! BAD TENANTS!!) They are planning to turn that site into a new rental office and business centre and hopefully an exercise room. If they get decent weight machines in there I should be able to use them. They took away my pool, they better give me something!!

Thursday morning I met with my client and friend Coach Ken for a visit and to get some work from him. He’s a personal performance/life skills coach and public speaker, and an all-round awesome person. All 6′8″ of him (!). I love talking with him, he always cuts to the chase and has the greatest suggestions and puts a different spin on things. I got the Coach K male perspective on what happened with AH and it made a huge difference. I can finally let go! (I really liked him, really, really… letting go is hard for me!!) Oh yes, and I must mention that later that day Ken made a trip to COSTCO and bought me a case of Sparkling Ice and brought it by because he da MAN! (Thanks Kim for introducing me to that stuff!)

Friday I worked like crazy on that business plan and by 7:00 p.m. I was able to send him a decent draft. There is not much else I can do until he comes back into town and researches his competitors some more and gets me that information. So I am leaving it to rest for about a week while I work on my other clients’ second quarter GST returns. Lots of work to keep me occupied this month! Thankfully.

Yesterday I decided to grab my walker and take a walk around my apartment complex, because if I can’t go to the pool, I need to find another activity I can do. So I take this little walk and felt really good about it afterwards, it actually was a real workout for me. However, today I can barely walk because of it, as my once-broken ankle is in severe pain. ARGH!! Three friggin’ years since I broke that thing, you’d think it would heal! Hmph.

Today I headed back over to the mall to pick up a few groceries, but went through Sears first. While I was motoring around I heard over the airwaves: “we are giving away free products to our adult customers in the store right now, to advertise our current in-store promotion. Make your way over to the counter with the red flashing light by the mall entrance to get your free gift.” FREEGIFTFREEGIFTFREEGIFT I was there in a flash. I saw a table set up and a bunch of vegetables and thought, oh great, we need to sit through a demonstration for some vegetable chopper thingy to get our free gift. Although, she started by giving us a juice extractor first, no obligation to stick around. She then showed us this plastic gadget for making turnovers and pizza pop type things (yes, I need one of those, so badly, with all the cooking I do!!) Those babies would wait until after the demonstration. I decided to stay for the demonstration because, (a) with my right hand I can’t cut vegetables and things (me and “finely chopped” do not happen), and (b) there were so many people surrounding my scooter I’d never get out. She demonstrated the Quick Chopper, a sort of hand food processor. It was so perfect for someone like me I had to get one. She sold me when she started whipping together a salsa and then said the words “great for making tabbouli too”. Ever since Christine brought me tabbouli from Aida’s Bistro I have been looking at tabbouli recipes and shying away from making it because of all the “finely chopped” this and that. And what I like about this thing, is it actually chops stuff, it doesn’t pulverize it into soup. She also threw in a $10 vegetable peeler for free… the best one I’ve ever seen, with a nice big handle that I can actually use, and it doesn’t require much pressure. Fate, I tell ya, fate that I was in that store at that exact moment! When I went to get a chopper from her, she gave me the plastic pizza pop maker we were all supposed to get as well, then quietly side handed me a miniature one too when no one was looking… for little itty bitty turnovers and perogies! No one else got that nanananana she liked me.

Oh, the pressure, now I have to make my own salsa from scratch. And tabbouli… how many points is that? Oh, here we go… EIGHT POINTS PER CUP! Crap.

I need to go dress for dinner. Not “ooo-la-la, dress for dinner…” I just need to change because I am wearing a white top and about to eat something with spaghetti sauce and I ain’t stupid!

  1. GASP-Did you say FREEEEEEEEBIES? I wish I was there-I am such a nut for freebies-I always hear them say that over the intercom, especially at the Bay, but I never go up because I think it is some crap, but now you have given me reason to go!! WOOT! Sorry to hear about your pool being closed..I was hoping to learn how to swim in it-now I gotta pay 10 bucks to make my way over to a real pool, which I won’t do anyways! lol

  2. Went to a friends house last night who had the ‘magic bullet’ blender (LOL reminded me of your new chopper Donna) but she made awesome chocolate mousse!
