Daily Ramblings #46547658579
July 14th, 2005
You know you eat at Edo Japan too much when the staff ring in and start making your order when you’re still a good 20 feet away.
As promised, my life has been very uneventful since my last entry, but I can always find things to ramble about so I’m updating anyway.
A couple weeks ago, Fred posted an entry in his journal with pictures he took on a hike. He told us if we wanted the full size versions of any of them to just email and ask him. He took a picture of what appeared to be a little sunflower (turned out to be a daisy, but whatever, it looks like a sunflower to me!) so I asked him for that one, and he sent it to me along with a couple more. THEN he went out the next day and took more sunflower-y type pictures FOR ME. He sent me an email with links to where I could download them. After thanking him I wrote to his wife Robyn to tell her how lucky she is (like she doesn’t already know!) because that has got to be about the most thoughtful thing a man has ever sort of maybe done just for me… and he is married, living in Alabama, and doesn’t even know me! (Helloooo single men in Canada, are you listening??) She replied and told me to keep in mind that that Fred is a hiking fanatic and always looking for a reason to hike. “I need to go out and take pictures for a reader!” must have been his excuse that day. Heh. Still… that was very sweet. Sunflowers!
I am totally addicted to that new show, Rock Star: INXS. Totally.Addicted. For those of you not aware, the members of INXS are using this venue to find themselves a new lead singer. They started with 15 rock singers and are already down to 13 after the first week. It’s got the Idol-format with each of them singing a song and then the audience votes afterwards, but the final decision is, of course, left to INXS because it is, after all, their band! These guys can really sing and perform and it’s just awesome. I am thrilled to pieces (although a little worried since she was in the bottom 3 twice this week) to see Suzie McNeil from Toronto in there. I met her in Toronto last year at my friend Jerome Godboo’s CD release party where she made a guest appearance, and Jerome and Suzie (scroll down) used to sing together. I would be surprised to see her win this thing, but she sure is an amazing singer and talented woman so I hope she sticks around for awhile.
INXS was always one of my favourite bands, ever since I first heard “The One Thing” in 1983 (yeah, I’m old, SO WHAT? You wanna piece of me? BRING IT!) I had a bit of a crush on Tim Farriss at one time, and now I get to see him every week for awhile and re-live my youth. He’s almost 50 now. When did that happen? Sigh.
So all I’ve done this week is work, go to the chiropractor, and Weight Watchers (5.4 pounds my first week! Woo hoo!) Tomorrow I am dedicating the day to working on this new business plan while my housekeeper is here doing her thing. I will have a clean apartment for the weekend and no one to come over and see it! Work, work, work for me this weekend. I am keeping my promise to myself to cut waaay back on the social activities, and I’ve got plenty to keep me busy which is good.
The pool still isn’t open here because they are fixing some massive plumbing problems around here.
I want my pool!!! Next week I need to incorporate activity into my WW program and I want the pool open for that! It’s the only exercise I enjoy that I am able to do.
Oh, and while I am bitching about where I live, (which I actually looooove, but you know, there’s always somethin’!) the lounger I got from Andrea spent one measly week on my patio before it was stolen in the middle of the night!! Buggers. I had hoped mine was safe because you see a lot of nice furniture on the patios around here and it’s not being stolen, but I guess facing the parking lot doesn’t work in my favour. My patio is back to empty blah boredom and I’ll pull out my $5 plastic chairs when I want to sit out there.
I finally bought some of that Loreal Sublime Bronze sunless tanning gel, and a big thank you to the ladies that suggested it! I actually have some colour on my legs.
I want to give a shout out to sweet Maggie in South Africa who reads my blog. You keep up that great attitude girl! I hope the LDN helps you and I’ll be answering your email soon!
Off to bed, I need to get an early start in the morning. Ciao!
