The Week in Review
June 12th, 2005
Well, well, well… where to begin with the events of the past week. Hee! Fun? Oh, yeah, we had fun. Lots of fun.
It all started when AH picked me up to go get Shawna from the airport last Saturday. I had asked him a few days before if he had a friend that we could double date with this week… every time Shawna is here, we see the same group of people, and wouldn’t it be nice to have a night out with a couple guys and do something different?? (No offence to the “regulars”. You know what I mean!) So, yeah, AH mentioned he was free that night and I suggested he call his friend and we all go out.
So Shawna got to meet AH you guys, the first to meet him, hopefully not the last…? After getting Shawna we came back here and threw in my Polyjesters DVD and much to my very pleasant surprise, AH stayed and watched it with us and laughed his ass off. What a way to get in my good books! When AH left he said he’d be back around 7:00 with his friend.
And, so he was. As Shawna and I approached the van, out popped AH’s friend (Billy! His name is Billy! Ahahahaha), and he was cute! Yay! Score. The four of us went to a pub for a couple drinks and to watch some sort of world championship fighting we didn’t know was on, but could not escape (so you may as well enjoy it, right?) AH and I kicked butt betting on who the winners would be. Heh.
Then we came back here and figured we’d throw in a movie, and chose Dumb and Dumber so we wouldn’t have to really concentrate on it and wouldn’t feel bad talking over it. Now, when AH and I first discussed the kinds of movies we liked, I remember telling him I like comedies, romance, action/adventure kind of stuff (I didn’t get into the fact that the types of comedies I like are pretty goofy and usually involve Will Ferrell, Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler; he could face those details another day). He told me he likes romance and mystery; no mention of comedy. I was thinking, well, I guess I won’t be watching Will Ferrell movies with him, which is a sad thought, because that kind of humour is really a big part of who I am!! Whether that is good or bad! Well, AH knew practically every line from Dumb and Dumber and was laughing out loud and knee slapping the whole movie. Yaaaaaaay!! I’ve found a goofball. We are so going to see Bewitched. (OMG I can’t wait for that!!)
On Sunday Shawna and I spent most of the day being giddy about the night before (Yay for cute boys! Hee!) before joining Michelle for dinner at the Santa Fe Grill. Monday… Shawna had a meeting in the morning and then met up with Billy that night. Tuesday… I took Shawna with me to my chiropractor’s and we had lunch at a restaurant near there that makes, in my opinion, about the best pizza in Calgary. That night, Billy and AH came to take us to the movies… I wanted to take AH to see Hitch (I have seen it before and knew he would love it. Which he did! And he didn’t even pull his hand away from mine during all that “loooove” talk ahahahaha) and those two saw Miss Congeniality 2.
So, are we seeing a trend here? Shawna and Billy, Billy, Billy. It was very cool the way those two hit it off so quickly and saw as much of each other as humanly possible during the week, squeezed in between other things we had planned. He called her a lot and it’s pretty obvious “he is into her“, so I guess time will tell if anything continues on after her return to Winnipeg! Go Shawna, go Shawna, go Shawna!
Wednesday afternoon we had a pile of people over here to watch movies and eat. Michelle and Christine arrived first, and we were able to watch the entire Polyjesters DVD (no, you can’t get tired of it!!) before Russ and Lisa arrived. Christine made a huge jug of sangria which we tried our best to drink, but it was just too much (and too few drinkers). I think there is still half a jug in my fridge. Once Lisa and Russ arrived we popped in “Police Academy” (how many years has it been since I’ve seen that? Yikes!). Then we ordered in food and just hung out.
**Edited to add: Lisa and Russ were so late because Lisa’s mom was making me THE MOST FABULOUS CAKE ON EARTH that she had to make sure Lisa brought with her… and it was HUGE and DELICIOUS and totally threw me off my calorie counting regime that was going quite well up until that point thankyouverymuch!!!
After Michelle and Christine left, the rest of us watched “Canadian Idol” and “Dancing with the Stars”. I’m behind on Canadian Idol this season, I am not familiar with any of them and don’t know who to root for yet. This week we get to start voting, so I better get with the program!
On Thursday I had a dentist appointment up 4th Street SW. After my appointment we went for Lebanese food at a wonderful restaurant near there I have heard a lot about as being the “best falafels in town”. It was fantastic, the hommus was fabulous too. I bought some falafels to go and took home a take out menu to show AH because he didn’t believe there was a Lebanese restaurant in the city he has never heard of. Haha! After eating we wandered up 17th Avenue and did some shopping. I bought some funky purple sunglasses.
Friday was POLYJESTERS DAY!!! Shawna and I met Michelle, Christine and another friend of mine, Connie, for dinner first at The Verve restaurant which was incredible. Our friends Kim and Rob were driving in from Medicine Hat and were supposed to meet us as well, but they left late and arrived at the restaurant about 5 minutes before we had to head into the Jack Singer Concert Hall for the show. Once inside the theatre we met up with Lisa, and the eight of us took our second row seats to enjoy the show. For the second half a few of us moved front row centre because that row was empty! For shame.
After the concert Lisa and Connie had to head home so the rest of us accepted Jason’s invitation to go have a beer in their newly-purchased motor home while they tore down. We made our way to the loading docks and climbed in (the doors were open. Sigh… trusting small town boys). We helped ourselves to beer and settled in, making fun of the stylin’ surroundings of this 1979 piece of work. They need to paint the outside orange and Kim needs to decorate the inside!!
We ended up at a restaurant in Chinatown around a huge table for the 16 or so of us that were there (band… parents… manager… friends…) and I sat myself next to my new friend Damien, an old friend of the band’s that just arrived from Newfoundland that day. We’ve been chatting online for weeks and he is now out here to be the PJ’s road manager/merchandise guy/slave. And my newest live music buddy! Woot!
Jason and Damien dropped Shawna and I off at home and it was straight to bed for me. I had not been sleeping well during the week and could feel myself coming down with something. On Saturday while I lazed about feeling crappy, Shawna helped me out around here big time doing my laundry, taking out the garbage and even going to Wal-Mart to buy me some Vitamin C. Then she got all packed up and Michelle came by around 5:30 to take her to the airport.
Another visit from Shawna has ended, and as each trip here gets better and better for her, I expect she will be back again soon!! I was in bed by 10:00 last night, unable to keep my eyes open… yet unable to actually sleep either, as I was still laying awake at 2:30 a.m. I don’t know what’s going on with me! Hopefully getting back to a normal schedule will help. Oh, and maybe if I stopped drinking so much coffee.
That’s quite a week!! I get tired just reading about it, and my name only appears on, okay, 4 of those days. LOL. But somehow, no matter how many times my name appears, I seem to have missed meeting “the boys”.
As Michelle said: That’s quite a week!! Now my eyes BURN, lol. How long did it take you to type all that!?
Oh, that’s NOTHING! You should see the length of the entries I wrote about my few days in Montreal this past February!
*Sigh* it was quite the week
. One I won’t soon forget and Donna is the best friend EVER! Billy called before I left Donna’s on Saturday to say one last goodbye and to ask me to call him when I arrived back in Winnipeg, which I did. Yep every trip is fantastic and I’m sure I’ll be back again before long as long as Donna is still willing to have me
.
Yay, my name made its way in here too…I only wish that I could have joined Michelle in meeting these two new boys..but who knew that Billy was going to call 30 seconds after Russ and I left?? It was great hanging out with everyone and Christine too..too bad Shawna had to bring that nasty rain with her though-I swear if it snows the next time she comes (in August it COULD be possible), we are deporting her RIGHT away!!! I hope she got some stock in Purdy’s before she went home though or else I will have felt sad…but I am glad to have tried the deep fried perogies from Swiss Chalet though
We should do another movie night but this time with me and Russ arriving a bit earlier…lol and Donna, for SHAME, you did not mention my mother’s cake! SCANDALOUS!! After all, her cake is what made us 2 hours late to your house! lol
Ooops! I edited it lol!
It was great being with y’all on Friday night, what a hoot! Shawna your glowing face was priceless when billy called Friday night.
Donna I’m glad you can finally get rest now that wild woman Shawna has gone home! lol.
Look forward to the next time we get together.
