Tales from my Friday

I guess I can’t really see LINDY and not write about it here the next day!!

What can I say… this was the best I’ve ever seen him and Sally. He’s playing a lot of new stuff as well as my favourites off Suspension of Disbelief (including “In The Air” which he never used to play live, until he figured out a way to pull it off that wouldn’t wreck his voice!) He ended his set with “Hockey Night in East L.A.”, which I used to see strictly as an encore. But he has changed his encore to show off his COMPLETELY PSYCHOTIC INSANE CRAZY PERSON side and it was fantastic!!! Ahahaha!! It was sooooo much fun. I knew Lindy had an outrageous fanatical zany side to him, I have just never seen it on stage quite to that extent. He told me later I only witnessed about one quarter of what his encores are like now these days… I guess it’s not something he can do every single night while on tour, but I sure look forward to the next time I can see him in a performance that is separate from a big tour.

Jason came with me (and his parents joined us for a bit, which was cool and fun, but they left during the second act who I thought were just horrible… Lindy was third and went on late!) I’m glad Jason caught this show. He has heard me go on and on about Lindy in the past and now he knows why!! He was suitably impressed and blown away. He also now understands what I mean when I call Lindy “the love of my life!” Our hugs, kisses and “I love you’s” after the show were enough to make the group of people that had gathered around say “get a room!” “Get TWO rooms!” Hee! Lindy always makes me feel so special when I see him, he says and does the sweetest things and even dedicated “Beautifully Undone” to me again (”DONNA! This is for you! WE LOVE YOU SOOO MUCH!”) The feeling is oh-so-very mutual!!

Anyway, Sally even performed a solo song which was great, and the two of them are sounding better and better and more amazing together all the time. The show didn’t even end until almost 2:00 a.m. so we never went to the after party… it was past my bedtime! Jason bought us Spolumbo’s sausages from the vendor outside (man, it has been years since I’ve had a 2:00 a.m. hot dog!) and then drove me home. Jason is awesome, Lindy and Sally are awesome, and I just had the best night!

Oh yes, and it was Lindy’s birthday on Thursday, so I gave him a Ka-Chunk! CD and a “Ukelayme” Polyjesters T-shirt and Sally got a “Carpe Scrotum: Grab Life By The Balls” one (I got myself that one too!) (Visit the Polyjester’s store via the Kachat! button on their site!)

So what else… my last day at my client’s went fine, except now I know it won’t be the last I hear from them. He has not hired a new bookkeeper yet and said when he does, he will ask me to come in and spend some time with her… he will pay me more money and my cab fare for that day or two. I left some good notes for the new person and said most questions could be handled over the phone, but I think he really wants me to come in. As long as he doesn’t wait a year to hire someone, I will do it… but I am NOT going in if he waits too long, to try to figure out the mess that piles up. He waited almost two years between his last bookkeeper and bringing me in, so I’m not holding my breath!

My back is much improved, although I still have a ways to go to be 100%. My chiropractor sure is awesome. And I feel a lot better about going now that I have cleared up over half the money I owed him and got my bill down to a livable amount. For now!

Today is another beautiful day for sitting out on my patio and reading… I bought a new book that was written by a few of my favourite bloggers including Shauna, Erin and Robyn called “Tales from the Scale: Women Weigh in on Thunder Thighs, Cheese Fries, and Feeling Good… at Any Size“. I just started it and am already hooked, I can’t wait to read the rest. I have been reading their blogs for years (they all have regular blogs as well as weight loss blogs, I read ‘em all!) and I am so happy that this book is out there so the rest of the world can see how amazing they are. Shauna is my greatest inspiration, having gone from 350 pounds, living in Australia depressed, lonely and hating herself, to living in Scotland, losing a whole whack of poundage (160 so far!), finding the love of her life and marrying him just this past March. To read along with her life the past few years and see the changes in her has been simply astonishing. I squealed right along with her when she (told us she had) met the boy and cried when she said they were getting married!!!

So yeah. I’m getting back to that book. Later, kids!
