I’m Back!

h1 Monday, February 28th, 2005

I got in last night to NO internet connection (waaaaaah!) and just got it going now. I have about 50 emails to answer/deal with and a ton of work to do, clients to contact, unpacking and housework to do and loads of other stuff. It will probably be several days before I get a chance to spend some time on here to talk all about my adventures in Montreal, so be patient!! I also have to go through my newly upgraded blog and change all the entries that turned apostrophes and stuff into question marks during the conversion (I am anal that way!)

Some of the highlights of my trip included: Read the rest of this entry »

Vive la Montreal!

h1 Tuesday, February 22nd, 2005

Alrighty, I am outta here to spend a few days in Montreal with Mini Me, hang with the Polyjesters on Thursday, Lindy on Friday, and Arlene Bishop on Saturday…and who knows who else may be at this LTA Showcase (where the PJ’s are) or the Folk Alliance Guerilla Showcase, huh? Lindy says he will get us in by telling them I am a representative from some festival in the Ukraine Ha ha ha! I better get on with making those holopchies…

My blog may be down for a few hours as Russ will be doing some upgrading while I am gone. Nothing that you will notice I don’t think, but it sure sounds like it will make my life easier. (DOWN WITH SPAM!)

Be good while I’m gone!! Ohhhhhhhhh this is going to be fun, fun, fun!!!

p.s. edit later ~ I just found out Melissa McClelland is at the Folk Alliance Showcase on Friday too. (!!!!!) Allow me to express, once again, how flippin’ lucky I am when it comes to booking a trip somewhere and then my favourite musicians have a show where I’m going to be!! Wow! I’m so excited and it is so past my bedtime if I want to be able to get up at 5:00 a.m.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeee! :D :D :D

h1 Saturday, February 19th, 2005

So this is my weekend to get everything else done I need to do before I leave for Montreal. You would think I was going away for 4 months, not 4 days, the way I am approaching it with my shopping habits! I picked up my new glasses the other day; I went downtown and I used Access Calgary to take me, and guess who my driver was?? The hot guy! Woot! I haven’t seen him since that entry. He is so cute, and easy to talk to, I really like him!! I wish I could request him all the time ;) He’s got such a good vibe. We were talking about my going to Montreal and he said he just loves it there, “people really live there”. He said he has enough air miles for two round trip tickets… hmmm.

I had my walker with me that day, which always makes me feel like an invalid. For some reason I am not too self conscious about using a cane and dragging that with me everywhere, I guess because I am so used to it, it’s like an extension of me. But the walker? I mean, really, what man wants to date a woman with a walker, unless he’s 80 years old or something! Emma always makes me feel better though, she said “um, a man who drives for Access Calgary?” Heh. Sure, why not, he’s seen it all, he’s used to it. I am going to ask him out next time I see him.

(I am SO not going to do that, but it’s a nice thought).

Anyway, I picked up my new glasses and I really like the way they look (thanks Shawna, for picking them out!) Then I decided to head upstairs to ladies fashions and look around, but there was nothing that really grabbed my attention except this bright yellow shirt with sunflowers on the hip. So I got that. Then I went to Purdy’s Chocolates to buy some treats for a certain someone who can’t get Purdy?s where she lives ;) (see, now that I have said that I CAN’T eat them! It’s for my own good that I announce it here) and took myself for lunch at the Elephant & Castle. After lunch I had 45 minutes to waste before my ride came to take me home, so I just went into the Second Cup and grabbed a coffee. With about 20 minutes to spare, I decided, hey, why not check out Reitman’s, it is straight up the elevator, I can look and be back down in time for my ride.

Reitman’s had a huuuuuuuge sale!! I found a cute black swing skirt for $9.99 and a sparkly top that would look great with it for $6.99. I wasn’t 100% sure they would fit, but if not now, they would soon, whatever, for that price you can’t lose. So I bought them, raced back downstairs and caught my ride home.

The skirt, way too big. The top, way too small. Heh. Well, the skirt is wearable, it just needed some help. I think, after trying on every item of clothing in my closet, I have an outfit to wear Thursday night in Montreal. Last night I bought new jeans too. Sigh. The jeans I have been wearing are so big and frumpy, but the size smaller I own (totally different make/store) are still too tight to wear comfortably. So I bought a pair of jeans exactly like the bigger ones I have now, but a size smaller, and since they are the same make they fit good. I also bought stockings and something I have never bought or worn before but I think will become a staple in my wardrobe, one of those tight undergarment thingys that holds everything in and smooths it out, you know, like bicycle shorts but beige and old lady looking. What next, a girdle?? How to shed 10 pounds instantly! Ha ha ha it’s awesome and soooooo not sexy. Pffft.

Today I must go to the post office and pick up some packages. I ordered a bunch of vitamins online a few weeks ago and emailed the company yesterday wondering where the hell they are, they charged my credit card on February 5th and I am in the same city, shipping should not take that long! They told me they were mailed February 11 (so why charge my card Feb. 5 if the items haven?t been shipped, morons, take a lesson from Amazon) and delivery was attempted February 14th. Apparently I was left a delivery notice (not!) so I am going to try to get it from the post office without one. I have a delivery notice for another parcel anyway, my skin care from New Zealand. I spent less than $60 including shipping and I now have about a 2 year’s supply of NZ mud and lanolin. I love that stuff; I also got some mud body scrub, can’t wait to try it. Such a bargain. If you were to go looking for the same stuff in shops here, imported from New Zealand, I am sure it would set you back a small fortune. Get it direct from the source!! That’s my beauty and shopping tip of the day. (Cause I know ya’all come here looking for my beauty secrets. Heh).

So, what else… my Edo Japan at the mall next door has been closed for renovations and that makes me want to cry. The only thing I ever want at the food court is Hawaiian Chicken (no rice, double the veggies) from that place and having to make OTHER choices makes my brain explode.

I guess all I’ve got left to do is laundry and figuring out exactly what I am bringing; print out maps/driving directions to a couple places I know we are going so cab drivers don’t try to rip me off, make a few batches of colloidal silver and put my daily doses of vitamins into little baggies. I also need to get this place in order so I don’t come home to a messy disorganized apartment with no energy to do anything about it, and work… I have a few hours I need to get done before I return to this client’s on Tuesday. One day of work left before I go! Woot!

Some Things Never Change

I am so excited that the Polyjesters are on this amazing tour and getting some great gigs… the other night they performed at The Kennedy Centre in Washington, D.C. and you can watch the entire hour long live performance right here, (I wish you could hear the crowd more, but it’s cool the way you can hear them gather by the end and my favourite part is about 40 minutes in, so sit yourself down and get some popcorn ;) ) and tonight they are at CB’s Gallery in New York. How cool is that?? CBGB’s!!!!!!!!! Their show is at 10:30 p.m. NY time so if you’re reading this before that, be sure to tune into the live stream right here. Woot!! I know where I will be at 8:30. Pictures!

LOTS OF PICTURES!! May take awhile to download…

While pics are downloading, I’m going to announce that The Polyjesters have updated their website with more music, hilarious new bios, videos, photos, news updates… it still needs some work (a few links don’t work and stuff) but I’ve seen changes even in the past couple days since they left on tour. Jason has his laptop with him and is adding all kinds of stuff from the road! On the videos page is a little ditty called “The Kiss”, my favourite part from the Bonus features of their DVD… sooo funny!!! Read the rest of this entry »

Another Busy Weekend and… LINDY!!

h1 Tuesday, February 8th, 2005

So the rest of the weekend with Shawna was a very busy one!! Lots of fun. Saturday we puttered around here and watched “Elf”, conserving energy I guess for the next couple days! That night was a birthday party at Schank’s bar for our friends Lisa and Michelle. It was a lot of fun! The food and company was awesome. It was Michelle and Lisa’s birthdays, but they gave us stuff! We were all presented with goodie bags filled with candies, chocolates and cookies. Lisa told me she wanted to put my goodie bag together with vegetables to keep in line with the healthy regime I have taken on this year. Well, I woulda killed her had she presented me with raw vegetables when everyone else got chocolate ;) Let’s just say, the last few days of Shawna’s visit all healthy intentions went out the window, but today is a new day!! Just a Quickie!

h1 Friday, February 4th, 2005

I thought I’d make a quick update while Shawna is out seeing Billy! I needed to stay in tonight because a) I knew I wouldn’t have the energy to go out tonight after the busy few days we have had and the fact we are going out tomorrow night, and b) I needed some time to myself to concentrate and work on this business plan.

My friend Shawna arrived from Winnipeg on Wednesday and is staying with me until Tuesday. Good times! She’s great and we get along really well, no shortage of conversation here. We have done a fair bit of mall hopping, including spending the afternoon downtown yesterday where she helped me pick out my new glasses (they’ll be ready next week. Woot!) Shawna arrived with two big stuffed suitcases, (I always tease her about being Ms. High Maintenance ;) ) and has already bought a new pair of pants, a purse, a hat, MAC lipstick… am I missing anything? I hope she has room to take it all home! She’s dangerous in the mall, that girl. We’ve actually eaten a few meals at home this time! Last time she was here we ate out every meal except breakfast, I think. We didn’t want to spend that kind of money (it was really short notice that she decided to come out, no time to save for such an occasion!), so we’re being a little reserved. Last night after a supper of my mom’s homemade chili and Pillsbury breadsticks, she sat through my entire Polyjesters DVD and ENJOYED it!! :D Today I had to work way across the city, but she actually came with me and spent the day wandering around the strip mall or drinking coffee/reading the paper in the coffee shop or Boston Pizza nearby (where I did take a break and we had lunch). Access Calgary was over half an hour late picking us up and it was a long trip home, so I am very glad I decided to opt out on going out tonight… I am totally wiped!

I finished what I could of the business plan (I’m still waiting for some information from my client) and sent it off for another review. Shawna is hopefully having a grand old time at the Tsunami Benefit concert Billy is performing at, and my bed is calling me!

Tomorrow night we go out again, Sunday will be a good rest day, and Monday night is Lindy!! YAY! Tuesday morning she leaves and then it’s all about the work, work, work for me. Next time I update I’ll hopefully have my pictures developed from both Bluebird North and Lindy, and maybe even an exciting tale to tell.

Good night! *Yawn*
