Daily Ramblings #46547658578

h1 Tuesday, January 11th, 2005

I read this last night:

“KISS, which wrapped its Rock the Nation tour last year, is on hiatus as singer-guitarist Paul Stanley continues to recover from a second surgery to correct a hip-replacement operation that took place in October. “

Perhaps someone is a little too old to rock ‘n roll all night and party every day, hmmm?? Read the rest of this entry »

Sunday, Bloody Freezing Sunday

h1 Sunday, January 9th, 2005

Another cold Sunday morning in my flannel jammies clutching my hot cuppa tea. I managed to get warm and stay warm last night, playing with my thermostat, putting on warm PJ’s and socks and crawling under two big comforters… but now I am cold again. My thermostat is turned up all the way… I guess it’s time for another call in to building maintenance. I have to tidy my bedroom before I do it though because that’s where the main wires are they need to fiddle with. So that means I may put it off yet another day and just wear a sweater! Next week it is going to be a lot worse on Tuesday and Wednesday, so I better get it looked at tomorrow.

Last night I met up with Michelle and her friend Gemma at the Ironwood to see Sillan & Young. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m Too Sexy for the Snow

h1 Thursday, January 6th, 2005

My cold that never really hit is gone. And not a single Contac C, Neo Citron or Drixoral hit my blood stream. It can be done, people!!

I use ‘My Yahoo‘ as my home page and set it up however I want… news headlines (the hard stuff, like entertainment gossip and The Onion), health tips, weather, a comic, stuff like that. I used to have all this Taurus horoscope info up there too but finally decided to remove them because they’re a load of crap. Today’s overview said “The stars are feeling sexy. Get ready for a long, lingering afternoon and evening. If you’re attached, have lunch and dinner delivered. If you’re not, put on your cutest outfit and get out there.” Gimme a break. Who’s going want to wear their cutest outfit and get “out there” when it’s -40 and 20 feet of snow??** Who looks cute and sexy in a big parka, mitts, scarf and a toque? Oh baby! Yeesh. Those daily horoscopes are written for people who are rich, thin, have fabulous social opportunities coming at them from all directions, and live in southern California. And I am none of the above. Sneeze, Sniffle and Sleep

h1 Wednesday, January 5th, 2005  (Current Mood: sick)

I know, I know, I am long overdue for an update judging by my lovely track record of posting almost every day!! I overdid it during the holidays (too much eating and socializing!) and my body doesn’t like me at the moment. I’m doing much better lying in bed or on the couch than sitting at the computer and I’m even fighting a COLD!! I haven’t had so much as a sniffle in over a year. Yesterday I felt it coming on big time… the biggest sign for me (and everyone!) that I am rundown from overdoing it and need to rest. I had the runny nose, swollen glands, sore throat and difficulty swallowing… so I immediately started guzzling colloidal silver and taking tons of vitamin C and Total Virx (talk about the BEST stuff for fighting a cold before it starts!!)… and today it is a lot better. I have kept up the same routine today and expect it to be gone tomorrow without having hit me too bad. I’m still very tired and weak though; hopefully once all signs of this cold are completely gone I will also be back on my feet. Right now walking is a little touch and go, my knees keep buckling and I’m dragging my ass reluctantly if I have to go anywhere! Read the rest of this entry »

The Year of the Sunflower

h1 Saturday, January 1st, 2005

I have proclaimed 2005 the year of the sunflower. It hit me towards the end of December exactly what sunflowers stand for and what they’re all about, and how I want to emulate them. I realized why, for so many years, the sun has played a huge role in my life and it sort of all came together in my mind this past week.

Multiple Sclerosis is a condition partially caused by Vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is “the sunshine vitamin”. There are now studies showing that women who are pregnant during the winter months in countries like Canada (therefore getting less sun) are more prone to have children that develop MS later in life (I fall into that category). Countries and regions that get less sun year round have much higher rates of MS (no one raised in Brazil or Africa has ever been diagnosed with MS, they’ve probably never even heard of it there!) Scotland has one of the highest occurrences of MS, and they are one dreary, cloudy and rainy country. (Edited to add… except now Shauna’s smile since getting engaged will light up all of Scotland!)
