MeMe

h1 January 20th, 2005

I decided to work in the afternoon at the pub on Tuesday, because I wanted to be there for supper and to catch the Songwriters Association’s monthly meeting, as they always break out into playing a few tunes and I wanted to watch/listen. While eating dinner, I overheard Marcus (bartender) telling someone that SAC meets somewhere else now. I asked him about that, and he told me they decided to switch to some coffee house in the Northwest that was non-smoking and allowed kids. Drat. So, I finished up my food and then called a cab to go home. While waiting, Nancy and Twila from SAC arrived and told Marcus they were there just for supper and then heading to their meeting. They taped a sign to the door telling people where the new meeting location was and sat down to order. I asked them about the new location, and chatted with them a bit. They invited me to join them, and I am DAMN sure I could have gone up to their meeting with them. If I only hadn’t called a cab that was expected any second! We talked about Bluebird North (they’re going for sure, of course!) a bit, and Nancy asked me if I wanted to speak at an upcoming meeting (I had been asked before, but really don’t see how my being a fan of indie music would contribute to their meetings… I was asked because of my apparent knowledge of the industry and the bit of background I have in it, but trust me, I couldn’t contribute more than the other speakers they’ve had!) I’m flattered they asked me again… if I get to know them a bit better and feel I’ve got something useful to say, I will do it at some point in the future, it would be fun. In the mean time, I’m kicking myself for calling my cab right after eating… 2 minutes longer and I would have been able to join them for their dinner and the meeting/live music stuff. Poo. Oh well, I’ll see them next week at Bluebird and we can re-connect then.

Speaking of Bluebird North… do you know who is going to be here? (Besides Billy and Blair, of course). Andy Kim… and you may not know who that is off the top of your head… but go to his website and tell me you don’t recognize those clips of music!! Ha ha ha how cool is that!?!?

As I sit here I am looking up at the big bouquet of tulips a client dropped off for me yesterday. They bloomed beautifully while I was out today. I have no idea how long tulips last. I hope I get at least a few days out of them!
