Shopping Spree!!

Keep me AWAY from the mall!!! You’d think I would know better. Christmas is creeping up on us, and while I’m out and about looking at possible gifts for friends and family, I am making all these impulse purchases for myself! Or people I’ve already bought for and spent enough, they’re done, yet I keep buying! I was at the mall on Sunday to meet Eric for a coffee over his break, and after he went back to work I decided to look around. I realized, ever since writing up My Favourite Things entry, that I have been craving Body Shop Body Butter (or, I should say, my shoulders and elbows have). So I decided to pick one up. While there, I remembered I need lipstick. The helpful staff ended up spending WAY more time on my lips than I ever would and I got talked into this 2-in-1 stay on lip colour thingy for $15 when, in reality, I would have been happy with a $5 lipstick from the drug store; I was just looking for an every day one. The salesperson commented that my lips are very dry… (my own fault for licking them too much and not applying Vaseline every night!) Yes, I tell her, I am aware of that. She tells me they have great lip moisturizers, and I say I have some at home. “Do you use it?” she asks. Well, NO, but I have it!! “Well, actually using it would help”. Yes, I know. But I really just came in for body butter, love the body butter. “Oh, we have lip butters too!” Ka-ching! It was the word “butter” that got my attention, I guess. They look just like little miniature body butters!! Yay! So cute! Oh, I’ll take mango and coconut!!! Because they’re $8 each but TWO for $14!!! ::clapclapclap::

Sigh.

Next come the cute mall stands, there are soooo many of them this time of year, selling all sorts of great gift items. I had bought a couple presents (and a “beer money” change jar for myself) at one of them a couple weeks ago, and I keep going back to it because they have lots of neat stuff. The welcome mats were drawing my attention lately, although I don’t know anyone who needs or wants a welcome mat. But this one just made me crack up, so I decided to go ahead and buy it for myself (I need a digital camera!):

OH NO!

NOT YOU AGAIN

Hee!

The next stand was a stocking stand where you can get names stitched on stockings and other items. Oh! They had holiday toilet paper!!!! (I came soooo close… and you can bet I will break down and buy some within the next couple weeks). My stepsister just had a baby boy on Saturday, so I picked up a blue “Baby’s First” stocking and got his name stitched on. Then I saw something else in that shop I just HAD to buy, but I can’t say what because the recipients read this. Let’s just say, as soon as I saw them I thought of these two people immediately, and had to buy them. Sigh. They were done.

Anyway, I’ve got everyone on my list pretty much taken care of, and may even finish ahead of schedule if I stop buying stuff for myself! I still have to bake up a storm for clients and friends. I can’t make shortbread fast enough… I gave Jason a HUGE (the biggest one I had!) tin of it with strict instructions to save it for over the holidays with his family (and yes, I gave him and the band some to eat now too), and it turns out the band devoured it all in the van over the weekend! Hmph! Boys…. ;)

Oh, and cards. Gotta get to those cards… tomorrow is December 1st already!!!!

  1. gotta love the christmas shopping!! you are SO ahead of me…I have two prezzies!! Eeep! They aren’t even for my family!! one is for Anaik and one is for Mich! ahahahaha I am so bad. Looks like I’m gonna hafta start making things….hehehe.

  2. LMAO Donna-as usual you crack me up. I just read this entry after I posted my WalMart experience and man alive, do we EVER sound like the same person! HAHA. It is awful because whenever you go Xmas shopping for others, you end up finding something that will be suitable for yourself and then you realize you don’t have enough money to buy an extravagent gift for the other person. HA! How awful it is. I dunno, I think Santa hides all the good stuff from January to November each year, and then the old fart throws them left and right in the stores. This time of year is the WORST for shopping-well the best, but you know what I mean! haha!

Hopefully next time I come over to your place, I won’t see my name written on that floormat ;) lol
