Toronto… Part Six (Final Installment!)

h1 October 2nd, 2004

The next day (Friday) Sherry wanted to take me for lunch at this cute Tea Room in Streetsville, somewhere between Acton and Toronto. Streetsville is, as far as I can tell, just one very cute street. I’m sure it’s more than just that, but the name is perfect!

Lunch was Afternoon Tea, with little cucumber and egg salad sandwiches (without the crusts and everything), scones with Devon cream and preserves, and a personal pot of tea. (That was all spoken with a British accent). I had some fancy flower green tea that you could actually see rose petals and sunflower petals in the water. Very fragrant and tasty!

After lunch we ran a few errands. First to Loblaw’s so I could get some of my pictures developed (I’m so impatient!) When we parked, Sherry asked if I’d need my walker taken out of the van. I said “no, I’ll just grab a grocery cart and use that”. And there it was, right beside the van the second I stepped out. The only stray cart in the lot, right beside us. Yup, fate was SO on my side that week ha ha! (Let me milk that, okay?)

After dropping off my film, we did a couple other errand-y type things and picked up Sherry’s daughter from her friend’s in Mississauga, then took her to the chiropractor… it was a long afternoon in the car in 31*C weather. That was fine when the air conditioning was on, but the hour I waited in the hot parking lot for Sherry while she went to get blood tests just about killed me. I needed the rest of the day to recover, so once we got home, I felt like a bowl of soup and flaked out on the couch. Thank goodness for air conditioning in their house. After supper, the boys rented the Season Three DVD of The Trailer Park Boys which we all gathered around to watch, but I went up to bed by 9:30. I was wiped!!

So that was THAT exciting day!

Saturday morning Sherry knocked on the bedroom door with a large Tim Horton’s coffee for me in her hand. Wheee! (I had made a comment that as long as they had a Tim Horton’s, the town of Acton couldn’t be all that bad. Hee!) Timbits downstairs and everything. Awwwww! Naturally, I spilled coffee on my pajamas immediately.

Still working on recovering from the day before (yeah, heat and MS do NOT mix, in case you didn’t know) and perhaps beginning my crashing descent after my busy week, we didn’t do anything much during the day except go pick up my photos. We relaxed and talked and stuff. It was, however, my last night there, so we were certainly going to go out. My other cousin out there, Carrie, lives in the High Park area of Toronto, so we made plans to meet her and her boyfriend Matt for dinner at a pub in their area I had heard about called Mitzi’s Sister. And a very good choice it was, I might add! It was a cool place and everyone’s food was awesome. Every meal I ate out anywhere there was faaaaaaaantaaaaaastic.

I also tried a beer called… Amsterdam Blonde, I think it was? Now I know what beer to ask for next time I’m in Toronto (because Big Rock Grasshopper is hard to come by out there and I’m a beer wimp. Don’t do the dark stuff very well and you’ll never catch me enjoying a Guinness. Blechhhh).

So that was that!! My last night in Toronto. We drove Carrie and Matt back to their apartment (3rd floor of a house and I had experienced enough stairs for the week by this point, so we never went up to see it. Very cool house though, as all those old character houses in Toronto are!)

Back to Sherry’s, and up to bed after a little TV. The next morning I got up early, packed my stuff, got ready to go, and Sherry took me to the airport and saw me off. Then I left and flew home. Bye bye Toronto!

So, that was my trip. I had a blast… so much so, that I didn’t even feel sad leaving! I was just so happy to have had the great experiences I had and the memories that will be in my heart forever, that I felt lucky, happy and fulfilled that this trip had been the best it could be. Thrilled to pieces, I could not have asked for anything better!!!! It was perfect.

You’re done!! Congratulations for getting through my little novel here. Hope you enjoyed it too! ;)
