Did You Know…

h1 Wednesday, August 11th, 2004

My friend Tara sent me this in an e-mail, and I think it’s really good so I wanted to post it here.

DID YOU KNOW…

  • Did you know that when you envy someone, it’s because you really like that person?
  • Did you know that those who appear to be very strong in heart, are really weaklings and most susceptible?
  • Did you know that those who spend their time protecting others are the ones that really need someone to protect them?
  • Did you know that the three most difficult things to say are : I love you, Sorry and help me. The people who say these are those that actually need them or really feel them, and they are the ones you really need to treasure, because they have said them.
  • Did you know that people who occupy themselves by keeping others company or helping others are the ones that actually need your company and help?
  • Did you know that those who dress in red are more confident in themselves?
  • Did you know that those who dress in yellow are those that enjoy their beauty?
  • Did you know that those who dress in black are those who want to be unnoticed and need your help and understanding? (editor’s note: or are just plain cool).
  • Did you know that when you help someone, the help is returned in two folds?
  • Did you know that those who need more of you are those that did not mention it to you?
  • Did you know that it’s easier to say what you feel in writing than saying it to someone in the face? But did you know that it has more value when you say it in the face?
  • Did you know that what is most difficult for you to say or do is much more valuable than anything you can buy with money?
  • Did you know that if you ask for something in faith, your wishes are granted?
  • Did you know that you can make your dreams come true, like falling in love, becoming rich, staying healthy, if you ask for it by faith, and if you really knew, you’d be surprised by what you could do.

But don’t believe everything I tell you, until you try it for yourself. If you know someone that is in need of something that I mentioned of, and you know that you can help, you’ll see that it will be returned in two folds.

“One day, we mad people will change the world…or we are already changing it “. THE BALL IS NOW IN YOUR COURT… If the world were to end in 24 hours, all the phone lines, chat rooms and email will be saturated from people sending messages to others, saying: “I regret having made you feel bad”, “Pardon me”, “I love you”, “I hold you in high esteem”, “take good care of yourself” and sometimes “I have always loved you, only I never told you”.

(The rest of the email went on to demand you make a wish and forward it on or suffer ill luck forever and ever and all that jazz. Uh huh. Well, I just liked the main part. So of course I forwarded it on, and now all my dreams are going to come true in an HOUR. So I better go get ready!!!!!!!!!)

And on the 5th day she rested…

h1 Sunday, August 8th, 2004  (Current Mood: lethargic)

I am soooooooooo tired!!! I’ve spent most of my day in and out of bed. Since Wednesday I have pretty much been on the go non stop with the socializing. I already posted about Wednesday and Thursday nights (woo hoo!) and I got my Jim Bryson pictures developed so I’ll share a few:

Live shot - all of these turned out dark and crappy so I lightened them and I’m showing the best one.

Say CHEESE!

Did I mention he’s a very funny guy?

Friday evening my friend Lisa and I went to pick Dana up from the bus depot after her 15 hour bus trip from Nelson, BC. Dana is in town for a few days before she heads back home to Ottawa. We met a couple other people for dinner at the Santa Fe Grill and finished off the night at the Rose & Crown pub:

Fun times. The NEXT day was supposed to be my day of rest, but Lisa and Dana decided to postpone their Banff trip until Sunday and wanted to hit up Purdy’s chocolate and the Olive Garden on Saturday instead. Not one to ever pass up Purdy’s or the Olive Garden, they picked me up first and with my wheelchair in tow we headed for Chinook Centre mall to wander around, get my film developed, and buy chocolate. Afterwards we went to the Olive Garden for bellinis and a great dinner with Russ and his friend Alan. After that it was back to Russ’ place to hang for the night, drink a couple beer, and be impressed by card tricks, mind reading games, Jason’s legs, (or was that just me? ;) ) and riddles.

Four late nights in a row and I am now EXHAUSTED. My body doesn’t like that too much. I’d like to say it’s going to get some well-deserved rest over the next week, but I’m going to be very busy with work and stuff… I’ll try my best to be in bed early and not overdo it. I have that dinner on Thursday, but aside from that, not a lot happening socially, and I’m going to keep it that way.

Now I just found out that the Orange Record Label has uploaded all of their videos into the “goodies” section of their website, so I know what I’m doing the rest of the night… “Beautifully Undone”, here I come!!! :D

Going Solo

I love me some music. Especially live. So when bands that I love are playing, or people are in town to do a show that I absolutely must see, I don’t let the fact no one can go with me stop me. I’d rather not go alone, of course, but sometimes it’s just hard to round someone up. So if it’s a must-see event for me, I will just bite the bullet and head out alone, which is getting easier the more I do it. I’m not one of those people who has a problem eating in a restaurant alone or even going to see a movie alone (perhaps my being single forever and ever and ever has something to do with my attitude about this. Some people think it takes courage, I think it’s just necessary sometimes if you want to get out!). I would welcome the opportunity to take a vacation somewhere like Mexico for a one week all-inclusive sort of trip allllllll by myself… that would be awesome. You never know who you may meet or what might happen, and when you’re alone and people watching, you generally seem more approachable, so meeting people and making new friends is a definite possibilty. Moreso than if you’re with someone!

So Wednesday night there was this big Jazz Festival event downtown. I had a friend set to go with me, but she called a couple hours before I left to cancel because she wasn’t feeling well (something I totally identify with… the “I just can’t do it tonight” fatigue). I was disappointed of course, but certainly not enough so that I was going to miss out myself. I mean, the Polyjesters were performing, and they are my favourite band on earth… it would take a lot (kidnapping, hospitalization, held at gunpoint) for me to miss them. Back on Track

h1 Monday, August 2nd, 2004  (Current Mood: determined)

I can’t believe we are into August already!! I had all these great plans for myself this year, and they’re not happening. Well, I guess I DID get the big picture in my living room hallway hung, so that’s something. I can’t even remember what all my other goals for the year were… but I can assume they involved losing weight, getting into a daily exercise routine, and getting out of debt… none of which I have come close to accomplishing. Sighhhh…. I’ve still got 5 months!!! Nothing like leaving it to the last minute. Read the rest of this entry »
